Rive
Medium elemental, neutral evil
The Rive, originating from the Elemental Plane of Air, were summoned to Anaias during the chaotic Time of the Shattering to serve the malevolent Lord Ataxis. These entities embody the essence of living air elementals and harbor an intense animosity toward all forms of life that differ from their own. Possessing sadistic tendencies and devoid of fear, the Rive employ stealth and patience, stalking their adversaries until the opportune moment to strike presents itself. During their attack, they manipulate their form, concentrating into a gaping maw adorned with jagged teeth, with which they rend and weaken their victims. Once sufficiently debilitated, the Rive engulf their prey within their elemental form, smothering them while feasting upon the fading Mana of their unfortunate victims.
The Rive exhibit a remarkable resilience, with few known vulnerabilities. Ordinary weapons are largely ineffective against them, as they are beings of elemental air, impervious to most physical harm. Only weapons imbued with the power of the vorpal steel or spells explicitly designed to target their extra-planar nature can pose a threat. Even then, such attacks merely banish the Rive back to their native plane, the Elemental Plane of Air, temporarily removing them from the realm.
Encounters with the Rive should be approached with utmost caution, as their sadistic nature and insatiable hunger for Mana make them formidable adversaries. Their ability to manipulate the very air around them grants them unparalleled mobility and stealth, allowing them to strike from unexpected angles. Facing a Rive requires strategic thinking, potent magic, and weaponry specifically tailored to combat their elemental essence.

Air Form The Rive can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. It can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
Ethereal Sight The Rive can see 60 feet into the Ethereal Plane when it is on the Material Plane, and vice versa.
Innate Spellcasting The Rive's innate spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 12). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
- At will: Gust
Multi-attack The Rive makes two Slam attacks.
Slam Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 7 (2d6) lightning damage.
Mana Drain (Recharge 5-6) The Rive attempts to drain the target's mana. The target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) psychic damage and losing 1d4 levels of spell slots on a failed save, or half as much damage and no spell slot loss on a successful save.
Banishment Vulnerability When targeted by a banishment spell, the Rive is banished back to its native plane, the Elemental Plane of Air, for 24 hours.
