Storms of Anaias

Baldor, Haven of the Desert

Located in the far southwestern region of the Sylwelsa Plains, near the Nameless Wastes, the city of Baldor stands as a vibrant and exotic settlement within the world of Anaias. Its origins trace back to 2917 AS when it was established as a refuge in the aftermath of the Time of the Shattering. Since then, it has flourished into a bustling hub for travelers, merchants, and artisans, renowned for its skilled craftsmen and thriving trade.

The city takes its name from a Dwarven smith from another realm, and its foundations were laid with the construction of forges and various artisan workshops, which quickly became the beating heart of Baldor. As decades passed, artisans from diverse trades flocked to the city, establishing their own shops and contributing to the wide array of goods and services available for trade or payment. Baldor became a haven for potters, glaziers, armorers, lapidarists, farmers, and countless other skilled craftsmen, each adding their unique expertise to the city's vibrant tapestry.

To oversee trade and manage municipal affairs, the Regents of the Artisan Ways emerged as a governing body, led by the esteemed Archmaster Forge. Their role is to ensure fair trade practices and promote the prosperity of the city's artisans. Working in tandem with the Regents, the Trail Advocates focus on establishing and maintaining trade routes with neighboring nations, fostering connections and facilitating the exchange of goods and resources. They actively seek trade partnerships with regions such as Vihreiden Maat for produce and meat, the Reach of Uxmal for exotic goods, the Apocrita in the Western Maw for jewelry and silks, and the offices of the Rautavarasto in the Cities Three for efficient trade operations.

Baldor itself is organized into districts, each dedicated to specific goods and services. The Forge District is the domain of various metal smiths, where the ring of hammers on anvils fills the air. The Oaken District houses skilled woodworkers, carpenters, and joiners, their expertise evident in the intricate craftsmanship displayed in their creations. In the Glaze District, potters, ceramists, and glaziers showcase their artistry, producing exquisite pottery and beautifully glazed ceramics. The Iron District is a culinary haven, home to skilled chefs and food artisans who tantalize the senses with their delectable creations.

Adjacent to the Forge District, in the southeastern part of Baldor, lies the headquarters of the Regents of the Artisan Ways and Trail Advocates. These institutions serve as the nerve center for governance, trade coordination, and decision-making, ensuring the smooth functioning and prosperity of the city.
