Whisdain of the Cities Three

Founded in 1912 AS by the enigmatic Whispered Wizard, Whisdain is the renowned city which serves as the hub of cultural and scholarly pursuits in the north of Urngor. The city’s prestigious schools, collectively the Collegium Illustratum, are: the Luminary Institute emphasizing arcane divination and healing; the dark Lyceum Tenebri focused on necromancy, conjuration, and evocation; the Chaosweavers Guild focused on transformation and abjuration; and the Consortium of the Veil focused on illusion and enchantment. The Headmasters of each institution serve together under the regional governor, who carries the title of Allusion Equivocal, and leads the city as a democratic institution.

During the Time of the Shattering, the city was able to fortify itself against the invading forces and individual marauders in service of Lord Ataxis. While they suffered losses, most were minimized to their nascent military and insufficient physical barriers. Centuries later, well into the Second Age, their military forces serve as a mighty protective barricade from outside forces. Many who reside in the boundaries of the city work either in service to the Collegium Illustratum or to the Whisdain Military. Those who originate from Whisdain who do not serve in these capacities generally immigrate to either Viborg or Banville.

The city is divided into four districts, each associated with one of the Collegium Illustratum and laid out to accommodate the students, instructors, and ancillary personnel. Surrounding the central districts is the Peripheral Band where the businesses supporting the commerce of the city operate. The Further Periphery houses the Periphery School of Military Sciences operating the main military forces, community police, and the Peripheral Barrier, which is a combination of traditional construction reinforced with enchantments and abjurations.
