Hlavor Zana Mountains
Home to the legendary Forge-Mountain, Mount Anaias, and named for the great Palladium Halls of Highlord Pel Lann from the First Age, this range holds special significance for the peoples of Anaias. In the First Age, the range was smaller with the single spire of the Forge-Mountain at its heart. Its roots are entwined with various ores and precious metals, with the deepest roots containing the Stone of Ful radiating its power within magma flows, leading to the volcanic vents to the world above.
During the Time of the Shattering, the catastrophic events of the folly of Kerei Akír resulted in the explosive destruction of the peaks of the entire range, raining down choking ash and heated pumice. Throughout the Time of the Shattering, the volcano remained active.
After the fall of Lord Ataxis and the beginning of the Second Age, the jagged peaks of Mount Anaias cooled, although occasional tremors serve as a reminder of the immense power dormant beneath the surface. The Knowing Depths, the laboratory-dungeon of the Gray Lord, have largely collapsed on the upper levels, and the lower depths remain inaccessible. In honor of the noble sacrifice of those fallen heroes of the First Age, an arcane memorial shrine, the Echoes of Valor, was erected radiating a powerful warding bane and echoes of their memory; this ward having the effect of driving away potential fortune seekers and explorers from the profane grounds. The Hallowed Champions gave new names to the former chambers: the Library Steps now called the Barren Keep, the Knowing Depths now called the Forsaken Depths.
