Storms of Anaias

Song of Apostasy

Syra ath Syol's origins begin in the Uskeche community of Sehan Sel. She was born to the Quessir ath Syol, a house and family of industrious mineral harvesters with long business relations with the neighboring Ornzar Kjior. Their work in cultivating the purest ores and minerals with the flame and earth elementals of the Quessir ath Nar insured a dynasty of riches and political power. Syra looked upon these ancient structures as loathsome, preferring the riches of the natural world of trees, mountain ranges, and the fauna therein to the bastions of avarice in which her family dwelled.

Her rebellious nature led her to leave her family holdings to seek out the peace of the wilderness of the Cornerstone Fens at the foothills of the western Hlavor Zana. There, she came upon the druids claiming this vast wilderness as their home and protectorate. Her appeals to join the druids eventually found sympathy with the one called Cor Ar Ivae, the Suncaster. Cor was able to teach Syra how to temper her impulses while seeing the value of living to the fullest, weaving the lessons of the Balance into the care and sustenance of the natural world. After many years under the guidance of Cor Ar Ivae with the community of the druids, Syra eventually broke away from their community to begin a new druidic lineage. Three years after the Shattering, Syra finds herself wandering between communities and wilderness alike, giving aid where she could for the peoples and mending the wild lands to heal it of the corruption of the mana surges.

During one of her sojourns, as she slept near a soft campfire, her dreams became dark visions of the destruction of a duchy from the explosion of a nearby mountaintop and its subsequent eruption. Hundreds of voices cried out in pain, in sorrow, lamenting the decimation of their home, a plea of her name echoing in the silence that followed. At the last unbearable moment, before she could stir to consciousness, the ethereal form of Theron Bhaird appeared to tell her that this was no dream but a memory of the fateful events of three years ago. He explained that while the damage of the Shattering could not be undone, further harm to the land and peoples of Anaias could be stopped. With his last words, he appealed for her to join in his daring quest to defeat the Lord Ataxis in the deep dungeons of the Forge-Mountain. She awoke at last, gathering her courage, and set out for the foothills of Mount Anaias.
