The Sorrow of Nar Tirith
As the forces of balance and defense marshaled their strength and resolve, Lord Ataxis—consumed by frustration and his insatiable thirst for death and destruction—unleashed his malevolence upon the world. The hordes under his command swept across the lands like a ravenous tide, fueled by his dark influence.
The first nation to bear the brunt of Lord Ataxis's wrath was the once-thriving duchy of Viborg, where Veyla Saldís and her companions made their stand. Despite their valiant efforts, the overwhelming flood of Lord Ataxis's forces proved too much to withstand. The duchy of Viborg, its history and culture, was reduced to smoldering ruins, its once-proud walls brought to rubble.
The tumultuous upheaval caused by the Shattering tore open ruptures between realms, and through them poured a mix of wondrous and terrifying creatures. The tribal warriors of the canine Yahv and ursine Nokose arrived as dimensional refugees, standing alongside the Elves and Dwarves, forming an alliance against the encroaching forces of Lord Ataxis. However, with their arrival also came horrors from other realms, creatures that were twisted and corrupted by the influence of chaos and destruction. These horrors were swiftly brought under the sway of Lord Ataxis, adding to the growing darkness.
In the Graniteblade Stronghold of the Nar Tirith, led by the honored Kerym ath Nar, regiments of Humans, Elves, and Dwarves gathered for a fateful counter-offensive against the raging swarm bent on destroying and corrupting the Elven lands. From the dense canopy of the Bloodthorn Fens to the open grasslands of the Ahnvae Nar, battle after battle unfolded, each leaving a trail of bloodshed and despair. Despite their valor and staunch determination, the fortifications and weary forces of the Elves were eventually overwhelmed.
Within the span of a single lunar cycle, the once-proud Elven nation of Nar Tirith fell. The lands that had once teemed with life and pulsated with the harmonious energy of the Elves were now tainted by the corruption of unchecked mana and the suffocating darkness of chaos and destruction. The grasslands that had once been known as the Ahnvae Nar became a toxic, unbearable marshland.
In the aftermath of this tragic defeat, the remaining Elven nations mourned deeply for the loss of their cousins, naming the marshlands Athilalarûn, a solemn testament to their fallen. The Alus Soeh, the Dwellers of Streams, were then charged with the sacred duty of cleansing the land from the corruption that had taken root. The spirits of the Nar Tirith were lost to their eternal rest, while the memory of their sacrifice and the time of the great sadness would be forever etched in the memories of all Elves.
The world of Anaias trembled under the weight of the losses suffered, and the remaining nations braced themselves for the challenges yet to come, their hearts heavy with grief but steadfast in their determination to restore the shattered Balance and bring an end to the Time of the Shattering.
